DESCRIBE YOUR AESTHETIC IN 3 WORDS.
Pure. Minimalist. Simplicity.
EVERYONE IS LISTENING. WHAT DO YOU SAY ?
I feel like there is a need for everyone to dare believe in young creatives. The ones who don't have big names to drop (yet) in their portfolio, but clearly have vision and a creative message to share.
I experienced this much more during the years I lived in North America, where agents and creative directors trust their guts with a young creative talents rather than relying solely on big magazines or client names these creatives have in their portfolio...
As much as great style was never a question of money or expensive clothes, great talents won't always be revealed by big industry names.
COLLABORATORS YOU’VE WORKED WITH WHO BECAME YOUR GO-TO NINJAS ?
I don't have Go-To-Ninjas. Every collaboration or project taught me great lessons and things, even the ones with obstacles or heavy personalities or picky clients. Obstacles demand even more creativity, heavy personalities teach you a lot about yourself, picky clients strengthen your nerves haha....
Everything helps me grow, always.
WHAT’S THE MOST EXCITING THING ABOUT YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY ?
The fashion industry becoming more and more accessible, less elitist. Even the big brands seem to just want to create clothes that are wearable by the guy and girl next door. I also love the evolution of clear gender codes towards less boundaries. I am a huge fan of gender free style, giving the wearer much more freedom of expression.
HOW DO YOU THINK STYLE AND POP-CULTURE WILL CHANGE IN 2018 ?
More and more accessibility, intellectually.
Pop culture will stay the thriving force in giving the youngest generation of creatives the opportunity to express themselves and therefore having an impact on society. We need more people who dare to think off the beaten paths and I see this more and more happening in the new generation of creatives.
Although I hope that this new-age 'ugly is the new beautiful' movement in styling will lose momentum...
